You can make a difference in the quality of education and level of research that the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri can provide to its students, its faculty and the research community, including research leading to commercial applications. Your gift can be applied to the identified priorities of the College of Engineering as listed below, you can specify that your contribution be applied to something of special importance to you, or you can allow your contribution to be unrestricted. When unrestricted, the Foundation Board can apply it to the highest priority need at the time of your donation with guidance from the College of Engineering. See this 2019 flyer for the importance and impact of Unrestricted funds to either the Foundation or the COE:
UM College of Engineering Foundation 2019
Contributions of all types and sizes will make a difference and are appreciated. All cash or other contributions are tax deductible because of the 501(c)(3) status granted to the UMCOE Foundation by the IRS.
Important needs for the College of Engineering that you can impact:
Each year the Foundation has worked with the College of Engineering to identify a fundraising target with appeal to current students, alumni and to potential new engineering school recruits, as well as the outstanding faculty and staff of the COE.
Continuing needs are also identified:
- Faculty and Staff – Establish endowments to provide recognition for excellence, enable career-growth opportunities
- Facility upgrades – Maintain, improve and create high-quality facilities for education and research
- Education – Provide scholarships and fund student organizations
- Research – Support grant matching, grant transitions, research projects and equipment purchases needed to conduct Mizzou research efforts
- Entrepreneurship – Encourage commercial ventures from Mizzou research
Foundation Organization Management Costs
A small portion of all contributions may be applied to fund Foundation’s administrative costs to continue our efforts in supporting the College. Through volunteer time of Board members, the Foundation has been able to limit the annual expenses to under 8% of contributions. Because of those efforts, no overhead fees have been applied by the Foundation to the gifts received when transferred to the COE or our Endowment Fund.
